Latest SWS senatorial poll: Villar on top, Poe in 2nd; Marcos, Roxas in ‘Magic 12′, Bam out

Manila, Philippines – The latest non-commissioned poll survey of the Social Weather Stations (SWS) for senatorial candidates showed a new change in magic 12 rankings, with re-electionist Senators Cynthia Villar and Grace Poe in the top two spots.

Villar got 62 percent of votes, which represents around 37.6 million votes, while Poe, who used to be on the No. 1 spot, got 60 percent or some 36.4 million votes.

While the third to fifth place belong to Deputy House Speaker Pia Cayetano, who is seeking a comeback in the Senate, and two other reelectionists, Sonny Angara and Nancy Binay.

Angara was reportedly delighted over the result, as he immediately released a statement enumerating his achievements in the Senate.

“Malaki po ang ating paniniwala na kung matutulungan natin ang ating mahihirap na mga kababayan na magkaroon ng trabaho at kumita ng sapat, maiaangat ng mga ito mula sa kahirapan ang kanilang pamilya,” he said.

Placed on the sixth spot is former Senator Lito Lapid with 38 percent voting preference, followed by ex-Sen. Bong Revilla Jr. at seventh spot with 35 percent.

Re-electionist  Sen. Koko Pimentel and former senator Jinggoy Estrada got the eighth and ninth spot with 34 percent each.

Former Senator Mar Roxas placed 10th with 28 percent followed by Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos in the 11th spot with 27 percent and incumbent Senator JV Ejercito, who ranked 12th.

Meanwhile, former senator Serge Osmeña got the 13th place this time, and re-electionist Senator Bam Aquino placed in the 14th spot, out of the magic 12.
