An article back in 2012 published by ABS CBN News has resurfaced on social media along with other controversies surrounding former President Noynoy Aquino’s sister, Kris Aquino.

Dated October 25, 2012, the article stated that Akbayan party-list group received P112 million in campaign contributions for the 2010 national elections. Out of this amount, P14 million came from three of President Benigno Aquino III’s sisters.

According to the statement of election contributions and expenditures filed by Akbayan, it received a total of P112, 183,000.00 from February 9 up to May 8, 2010.

It also declared that Kristina Bernadette Aquino-Yap (prior to Kris’ annulment with James Yap), gave P10 million for the campaign, apparently, the biggest contributor among others.

The article also stated that Aquino sisters; Maria Elena "Ballsy" Aquino Cruz and Victoria Aquino-Dee each gave P2 million.

Aquino family friend Margarita Juico, former chairwoman of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, gave P1 million.

Also, National Anti-Poverty Commission chief Jose Eliseo Rocamora contributed P1 million. Current Akbayan Rep. Walden Bello contributed some P1.4 million.

The ABS CBN report also said that Akbayan's campaign contributions were way higher than other party-list groups that year.
