Yesterday, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director-General Aaron N. Aquino confirmed that there will be more barangay officials to be included in the release of Narco-politician list of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Aquino said the initial list of 211 barangay officials involved in illegal drug trade have been verified already.

PDEA, on Wednesday said that President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the agency to reveal the identities of all barangay officials listed on the narco-list within this week.

The number of officials included in the list drug users and drug pushers, however, most of them were tagged as illegal drug protectors.

With the additional names on the list, the PDEA Director-General said that they would instead reveal the names to the public on Tuesday.

On the said list, Aquino said that out of the 211, 89 are barangay chairpersons, while the rest are barangay kagawads.

Malacanang also defended the decision of the President to release the names in public, saying that everyone has the right to know.

“The President has already ordered the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency to disclose the names of barangay officials included in its list of all those allegedly involved in the illegal drugs trade,” Roque said during a Palace press briefing.

“That’s within the powers of the Executive to warn the people on the possible drug personalties who may be elected into public office. That’s the judgment call of the President. The voters are entitled to this information,” Roque added.

Hopefully, the release of narco-list to the public will encourage the voters not to elect drug personalities into the office.
