PRRD to his bashers: "I dress to be comfortable not to impress anyone"

“I dress to be comfortable not to impress anyone,”

This is what President Rodrigo Duterte said after he was bashed for wearing wrinkled barong tagalong last week during the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Manila.

The president answered the bashers that he does not dress to impress, during the launch of TiendDA in partnership of the Department of Agriculture with Ayala Malls in Davao.

“I was there presiding not to please the figures, the prime ministers and presidents. Dito lang ako comfortable,” he added.

In a joke, President Duterte explained that his barong tagalog was wrinkled because it was something he asked from his partner Cielito Vanaceña to buy in Tutuban, Divisoria.

“Iyon ang kusot masa at hindi yon kusot mayaman (that is a cloth for the masses, not for the rich),” he added.

Many may have called it improper, but he likes to pair his barong with denim pants. He also folds his barong sleeves into three-fourths, which he said he got from former president Fidel V. Ramos.
