Manila, Philippines - On Thursday, the remains of late actress Isabel Granada were flown and arrived in Manila from Doha Qatar where she died.

Granada, who was also an Air Force reservist, has served PAF for two years as a second class sergeant, was honored by the Philippine Air Force.

Her remains arrived at the Air Force headquarters in Villamor Air Base, Pasay City at 10:40 a.m. yesterday accompanied by her family including her partner, Arnel Cowley with the PAF personnel and officers.

In a statement, Air Force expressed deep sorrow and heartfelt condolences to the family for losing such a great woman.

“During this time of mourning, we, the men and women of the PAF, share the sense of grief and great loss of Ms. Granada and we wish to pay tribute to this great woman who has achieved so much in her life,” said Air Force Spokesman Maj. Aristides Galang Jr.

According to Maj. Galang, PAF recruited Granada through its direct Enlistment Program in 2001 where the singer and former teen star was temporarily assigned to the Air Force Special Service Group and was given an Air Force Specialty Code Skill in recreation. She played and an active volleyball player for the Air Force Women’s Volleyball team.

“She opted to remain as a reservist where she continued her support by willingly performing, hosting, and lending her celebrity status to draw crowds in PAF events,” Galang shared.

“Her proper demeanor, both as a celebrity and an aviation enthusiast, also contributed to the PAF’s public image by virtue of her reservist status, which she had proudly admitted,” he added

The Philippine Air Force is set to extend funeral honors and service to Granada as a way of showing concern for the welfare of PAF’s personnel.

Granada was rushed to the hospital in Doha after collapsing in a fan meet-and-greet event. She suffered aneurysm and died after falling in coma for several days.
