Manila, Philippines - On Monday, Senator Antonio Trillanes hits Malacanang for accusing him of committing treason over meeting with US Senator.

Trillanes said that Palace should investigate first before making conclusions when he met with Republican Senator Marco Rubio in the United States.

Some netizens criticized the Senator on social media and accused him of treason by meeting Rubio.

Marco Rubio kahit pa sinabi na nya mismo na PH-US alliance, corruption and human rights situation ang pinagusapan namin,” Trillanes said in a statement on Monday.

Pwede ba, umayos kayo!” he said.

He then mentioned murder accusations against President Rodrigo Duterte.

Pwede ba, umayos kayo!” he added.

In a radio interview last Sunday, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar was asked to comment if Trillanes should be charged with treason.

Andanar said that it is up to the Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate such “legal matters.”

Trillanes had already confirmed that he met with senior US Government officials, including Senator Marco Rubio and discussed on how to “enhance RP-US relations, corruption, and the human rights situation in the country.”

It was Rubio who wrote a letter to US State Department expressing concern over alleged Extra Judicial Killings (EJK) under President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration.
