SWS Survey: Duterte's net satisfaction rating drops by 18 points

Manila, Philippines - The results of the Third Quarter 2017 Social Weather Survey was released on Sunday which shows that President Rodrigo Duterte’s net satisfaction rating has dropped by 18 points.

From +66 rating last June 2017 or “very good” satisfaction rating, it was now at “good” level or +48 points.

Basing on previous ratings of the president, this is the lowest on record since he assumed the position.

From the survey conducted from September 23-27, it revealed that 67 percent of respondents were “satisfied”, 14 percent were “undecided’, and 19 percent were “dissatisfied” the President Duterte’s performance.

The performance rating of the president meanwhile in Mindanao region has remained “excellent” with slight rise from +75 percent to +76 percent in the third quarter.

While in some areas, President Duterte’s net satisfaction has significantly slid, in the Visayas region it fell by 30 points, then 22 points in Luzon and 19-point drop in Metro Manila.

The president’s net Trust ratings fell as well, it was 15 points lower, from “excellent” to “very good”.
Out of the people who answered the survey, 73 percent said that they had “much trust”, 15 percent were “undecided”, and 12 percent had “little trust” with Mr. Duterte.

"The 18-point decline in Pres. Duterte's net satisfaction rating amid the 15-point decline in his net trust rating, between June and September 2017, resulted from the declines in his net satisfaction ratings among both those with much trust and those with little trust in him," says the SWS.

The said survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews of 1,500 adults countrywide, 600 respondents were from Luzon, and 300 each in Metro Manila, Visayas and Mindanao.

Furthermore, the survey happened some weeks after the deaths of teenagers Kian Lloyd de los Santos, Karl Arnaiz, and Reynaldo de Guzman, that somehow led to rallies against the president’s campaign on illegal drugs.
