Manila, Philippines - Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Allan Peter Cayetano defends the presence of bloggers during his trip to the United States last month.

Cayetano delivered a speech on behalf of President Rodrigo Duterte before then 32nd session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

During the event he was asked if bloggers were part of the official delegation.

"I think the bigger question is, why weren't you guys with me?” he shot back.

"It was a major policy speech. Kung wala 'yung bloggers, paano 'yung coverage namin?" He said, addressing the reporters present at the ASEAN High Level Forum in Pasay City.

"I’m saying nga whether wala kayong budget or wala kaming budget for everything, the reality is 'pag oposisyon ang pumunta doon you see all the TV cameras... So anong laban namin? How do we get our message out? It’s through you guys and through the bloggers,"he added.

The DFA Secretary also explained the policies of Duterte administration has been in constant attack of criticism from the international community.

"Sobra ang paninira sa atin around the world and then kulang na kulang 'yung coverage," Cayetano said.

Pro-Duterte bloggers like RJ Nieto, also known as Thinking Pinoy, was among those who flew to New York using the tax payer’s money which Cayetano also confirmed.

If recalled, Thinking Pinoy was also invited during the Senate hearing in light to prove the alleged fake news regarding the “Seven Deadly Sens” published by Silentnomore.ph blog.
The said incident has opened the world of bloggers which now plays important role in our society.

Nowadays, social media has become a tool in disseminating important information. It could also be used for black propaganda, or depends on how it will be used.
