National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has been directed by The Department of Justice (DOJ) to coordinate with the International Police Organization (Interpol) in hunting retired policeman Arturo Lascañas.

The former policeman was charged of frustrated murder and murder in connection with the attacks that led to broadcaster Juan Porras “Jun” Pala‘s death in 2013.

On June 5, 2017, Judge Retrina Fuentes of the Davao City Regional Trial Court Branch 10 issued a warrant for Lascañas.

After testifying against President Rodrigo Duterte at the Senate about the Davao Death Squad, Lascañas flew to Singapore in April.

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre also ordered NBI Director Dante Gierran to identify the whereabouts of Lascañas.

Meanwhile, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV instantly accused the Secretary of harassing Lascañas.

“This is a clear harassment of those who testify against Duterte,” said Trillanes in a statement.

The senator also added that, going after Lascañas and previously Edgar Matobato (who testified and claimed to being a member of Davao Death Squad) show that the two witnesses are really telling the truth.

If recalled, both were used as witnesses against Duterte who allegedly founded Davao Death Squad and paying them to kill drug addicts, criminals and political enemies.
