Following Margaux “Mocha” Uson’s appointment as the new assistant secretary to Presidential Communications Operations Office  (PCOO),  reactions and public opinions also spread like a wild fire.

However, in particular, the negative comment from Bb. Pilipinas Mariel De Leon (daughter of actor Christopher De Leon and Sandy Andolong) gained more interest and criticism in social media.

It began when De Leon posted series of tweets pertaining to Uson’s recent appointment to PCOO. When asked about what she thought of Mocha, De Leon replied “Biased and disrespectful. She insults those who are against her.”

Followed by another tweet "There are so many other unbiased, educated, and respected (and respectful) people who deserve her place,"

And then some more;

De Leon also added that she was thankful now for having a platform to voice out her opinion.

Many supporters of Uson and other netizens lambasted the beauty queen for behaving that way.

However, a veteran social media blogger, Atty. Bruce Rivera noted that De Leon does not deserve to be bashed in social media as she needs to be educated instead. She needs to know that as a beauty queen, she should respect people’s feelings.

Another prominent supporter of the president, Krizette Laureta Chu, also fearlessly defended Uson, saying that De Leon should not be haughty and conceited.

On Friday, May 12, De Leon apologized to those who were offended by her comments through her Instagram stories.

She wrote “Like all Filipinos, I love my country and I hope for a better Philippines. With or without a crown, I will continue to shoe my love for the nation by discussion issues that affect us. I apologize to anyone who was offended as it was not my intention to do so. i wish Asec. Mocha Uson success in her job. Moving forward, I will use this title as a platform to promote unity for the country."
