Amid fake news in social media, Robredo calls for stories of hope

On Saturday, March 4, Vice President Leni Robredo sought hope amidst fake news in social media out of inspiring life stories by launching "Istorya ng Pag-asa".

She calls out that these inspirational stories be compiled in  coffee table book. This project aims to "change the national conversation" in the middle of hostility in social media nowadays.

"'Pag bumubukas tayo ng social media, lahat ng tao doon nag-aaway-away. We need more of hope to nourish our sense of dignity as a nation, to build our people’s trust in liberty and freedom, and to fight for truth in an age of lies," Robredo said.

Robredo also mentioned that in a forum she previously attended, youth group told her that they are too tired of the negativity and hateful news in social media.

She also urges the public to tell their stories to give hope and said, "In the midst of lies, let us give them the truth. In the midst of darkness, let us give them light."
